A Taste of Our English Department

On October 12th, during block A4, we interviewed Mr. Narva and Ms. Benavides about their favorite foods.

We wanted to ask them about this topic because everyone has different cultural backgrounds and is brought up differently. Maybe their favorite foods are ethnically unique, or maybe they’re just your average everyday foods. It was also a way to get to know these teachers better.

One of the questions we asked was, “What was your favorite childhood food?” Mr. Narva’s answer was his mom’s homemade pizza. He said that he likes the homemade dough and pizza sauce. Ms. Benavides mentioned that her favorite childhood food was a chili cheese dog, but only from a certain restaurant. It was a special treat for her!

Another question we asked was “What is your favorite dessert?” Ms. Benavides’s answer was this thing called spaghetti ice that’s from Germany. She described it as a strawberry sundae but pressed to look like spaghetti. It’s topped with strawberry syrup, strawberries shaped like meatballs, and shaved white chocolate. Mr. Narva said that cherry crumble is his favorite desert, his mom makes it! She uses six sticks of butter!

Today we learned a lot. We didn’t know that spaghetti ice cream existed, so thank you Ms. Benavides! It’s always great getting to know your teachers more.
